Bio
Capturing the Light. Preserving the Feeling.
A Nebraska native and Sandhills-based artist, Tamara Rager creates vibrant, contemporary open impressionistic paintings inspired by the untamed beauty and quiet wonder of the natural world. Her work celebrates the wildlife and western landscapes of Nebraska—from cattle grazing across rolling hills and horses moving through open pastures to the enduring presence of bison and the fleeting magic of a sunrise or sunset.
Through expressive brushwork, movement, and luminous color, Tamara captures the changing moods of the Sandhills and the golden moments that invite us to slow down, look closer, and reconnect with the world around us.
Tamara holds a Bachelor of Arts in Creative Writing from Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska, and is a Certified Roman Mosaicist.
Her current collection, Somewhere Only We Know, draws inspiration from the rolling Sandhills, the winding Niobrara River, many small area lakes, and the interplay of light, land, and wildlife that gives this region its distinctive spirit.
When she’s not in her studio, Tamara can often be found off a backroad somewhere before dawn, chasing the first light with a camera, a drone, and her dogs—recording field notes of the moments, colors, and impressions that eventually find their way onto canvas.
